Kris Hazard

Whether he’s teaching, choreographing or coaching, nothing excites Kris quite as much as being able to collaborate on artistic projects with people who are as passionate about the arts as he is.

Kris started in the ballroom world during the two years between high school and college. He wanted to get real life experience out in the workforce before getting his degree. He brought several students from the start to a competitive level and garnered top teacher awards. His knowledge and experience granted him a scholarship to Elon University where he founded and coached the Elon University Ballroom Club “The Flight of the Phoenix” for 5 years. He has taught for Fred Astaire Dance Studios and “Dance With Me,” the company owned by Dancing With The Stars pro’s Tony Dovolani and Max and Val Chmerkovsky.  By testing standards he is a Full Associate Instructor.

Kris is a proud member of both Actor’s Equity Association (AEA), the union representing professional stage actors, and the Screen Actors Guild (SAG), which represents professional film and television performers. And so, of course, he loves working on the “performance” aspect and teaches Acting for Dancers to help with that.

Some of Kris’ professional credits include: The Wizard of Oz; Broadway National Tour, Children of Eden at New Jersey’s Papermill Playhouse, Fred Astaire in Blowing Rock Stage Company’s Backwards in High Heels; The Musical Story of Ginger Rogers, The Smoky Mountain Opry, Dolly Parton’s Stampede, and Dollywood and Opryland theme parks.
